Here are 2 scans of ideas for the main font on the front cover of my children's book. Something that gave me much of my inspiration was looking at all lots of children's books, old and new. To do this i went into various bookstores and started looking at books that are aimed at my target audience. I took the many ideas that I had seen and decided to try and emulate them. I drew my ideas out in pencils and then went over them in ink and added definition to many of them.

Here i have selected one of my typefaces and put it into Photoshop. I then added a threshold to the image to ensure the lines were black and the background would be easy to delete.
Here I have selected the background, including the insides of the letters, so that if i decide to put colour inside the text it will look more effective.
Then I selected each letter and put them onto separate layers, so i could move each letter around and put them into new photoshop documents, to create my title and see how this would look as the typeface for my front cover.
Here is one of my type ideas. I have taken each separate letter to make up the title and arranged it in a way that I think would attract an audience's attention. I then used the brush tool to add colour into my image, behind the text. I decided to use red and a blue/purple colour as they contrast, and make the other stand out.
For my next idea I arranged the letter differently, making sure they were all straight, aligned with each other and to the left.
