Mr Big Sketches

Here are the drawings of the main character for my children's book, called Mr Big. Firstly I found an image on the internet and used the light-box to faintly trace the outline of the character in pencil, to which I added detail to (top left image). This then gave me the idea to use the lightbox to create this image again, but with different tools, so for my second idea (the top right image) I decided to use a brush and ink to create a messier effect than the one drawn with pencil, as using a pencil tends to be fairly precise. I then decided to use a dip pen with ink (bottom left image) and this gave me a very neat and clear-cut effect, which would be very useful in my work. For my last sketch I used ink again, but thought it would be good idea to use a cotton wool bud as my tool (bottom right image). The effect this gave me was very different to the others as it is not as neat as the rest, which gives it a very unique look, especially if it were to be on the front of a children's book.
